Digital Photography 1

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and comprehensive understanding necessary to become confident with photography. Students will have project based assignments and terminology, along with weekly critiques. Projects will address aesthetic principles as they relate to composition, spare, exposure, light and color. This course begins with traditional photography as an art form evolving into digital manipulation with Adobe Photoshop. (STUDENTS NEED TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN DIGITAL CAMERA, NOT A CELL PHONE CAMERA, FOR THIS COURSE)

Digital Photography 2

One semester Course

Grades 9-12

Prerequisite: Digital Photography 1

Course Number: AR247

Building on the skills from Digital Photography 1, students will be learning more sophisticated Adobe Photoshop techniques and be expected to work at a higher level of achievement. By exploring photographic and digital media with the computer, students will be able to develop a body of work that reflects a
range of problem solving, ideation, and versatility with techniques to demonstrate their Adobe Photoshop abilities. (STUDENTS NEED TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN DIGITAL CAMERA,
NOT A CELL PHONE CAMERA, FOR THIS COURSE)

Computer Design 1

One semester Course

Grades 9-12

Prerequisite: None

Course Number: AR292

In this course, students will learn basic design skills and Adobe Illustrator. The areas of study include problem solving to create appropriate design solutions, layout and publications design. Students will be encourage to meet professional criteria regarding quality design and deadlines. Personal responsibility, self-motivation, communication/critique and time management skills are essential for success in this class. (This course is also required course for the Creative Academy/DC&M)

Computer Design 2

One semester Course

Grades 9-12

Course Number: AR302

Building on skills from Computer Design 1, students will learn more sophisticated techniques and will be expected to work at a higher level of achievement. Branding, label design, self- promotion, graphic design and digital portfolios will be taught in this class. Colleges often call this class Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Design Communication, or Marketing Design. Personal responsibility, self-motivation, communication/critique and time management skills are essential for success in this class.

Digital Illustration & Painting

One semester Course

Grades 9-12

Prerequisite:

None

Course Number: AR122

By exploring digital illustration and painting with the Wacom stylus and tablet, students will be able to develop a body of work that reflects a range of problem solving, ideation, and versatility with techniques to demonstrate their Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator abilities. Abstract and Realistic art are explored through imagination, observation and design. Personal responsibility, self-motivation, and good problem solving skills are essential for success in this class.
